How to Fold a Pocket Square for a Wedding

A pocket square is the easiest way to make a hired suit look like yours. It takes thirty seconds once you know the folds, and it gives the groom and groomsmen a way to pick up the wedding colours without matching ties.
## The flat (presidential) fold
The neatest and most formal. Perfect with a morning suit or a dark lounge suit.
1. Lay the square flat and fold it in half left to right.
2. Fold it in half again from bottom to top.
3. Fold the right side in so the width matches your breast pocket.
4. Fold the bottom up so a strip about 1cm shows above the pocket when you tuck it in.
## The one-point fold
A touch more interesting and still smart.
1. Lay the square flat as a diamond.
2. Fold the bottom corner up to the top to make a triangle.
3. Fold the left and right corners in so the width fits your pocket.
4. Fold the bottom up and tuck it in with the point showing.
## The two-point fold
As above, but in step 2 fold the bottom corner slightly off-centre so two points sit side by side.
## The puff
Relaxed, good for silk squares and summer weddings.
1. Pinch the centre of the square and lift it so the corners hang down.
2. Gather it loosely with your other hand.
3. Fold the corners up behind the puff and tuck them into the pocket.
## Matching it to your outfit
Don't match your pocket square exactly to your tie. Pick up a colour from it, or from the flowers, instead. Linen and cotton hold a crisp fold; silk is best for the puff. For the groomsmen, the same square for everyone looks sharp in photos.
